Get the Look: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Returning to the big screen this holiday season, Sherlock Holmes takes us back to a time of propriety, intrigue and devious crime. Back when it was folly to leave the house without your hat, Game of Shadows highlights a variety of classic hat styles. From a gypsy’s large brim fedora to refined bowlers and top hats, this movie has a little bit of everything for hat lovers. Try some of the looks below for a modern version of your favorite character’s look!

1. Watson’s Top Hat

2. Sherlock’s Rumpled Fedora

3. Simza’s Wide Brim Fedora

4. The Twins’ Newsboys

Get the Look: The Muppets

The Muppets are back . . . and sporting some fine hats in the new 2011 film simply titled: The Muppets. Are you a fan of Fozzy’s pork pie? Or maybe Janice’s cloche, Mr. Teeth’s top hat or Zoot’s flat cap . . . ?

Fozzy the Bear, fan of comedy and studebakers, has always been a man of fashion. From his signature polka dot scarf to the ever present brown pork pie, he’s a bear who knows how to dress.

If you’re looking for a dainty and more feminine look, try a simple cloche like Janice. She may be all about flower power and love, but she also knows how to pull out the fierce fashion guns!

Dr. Teeth is a mad scientist with music but a mad genius with his sense of style! If you want to look smooth, try a top hat . . . and don’t forget the feathers!

And if you’re more the quiet type, sitting in the corner watching life unfold around you . . . take a lesson from Zoot. This introverted sax player knows a thing or two about his look . . . and flat caps fit the bill.

Get the Look: The Rum Diary

It’s common knowledge that Johnny Depp is a hat-a-holic, but it also seems that his characters love them just as much! In The Rum Diary, more gorgeous hats grace his regal crown in the form of straw fedoras and planter hats. Set in the 1950s when hats were still a fashion necessity rather than simple accessory, Depp plays an American journalist in Puerto Rico.

Off the Hat Tree: Meet Some Awesome Styles

We love hats. I think that may be an obvious statement, but it should be mentioned every now and again. It’s probably evident if you follow us on facebook, and I’m sure it comes through on this blog. While it’s technically “work” while we’re here Monday through Friday, we all love it. We love hats.

It’s even evident when you walk in the office. Sure, we have hats on our desks that we’re working with . . . and some that are ours in case we forgot/need/switch a style. But we have hat trees, shelves, and racks full of hats. It’s not rare that someone just stands up and grabs a hat because it’s cool, fun or silly. It’s not even odd to walk in and find someone in a top hat!

Today, I want to introduce our hat trees. These two racks of specially bent metal with padded displays are piled with hats. Here are some of our favorites in the office right now:

1. hats.com’s Layla Sun Hat

2. Kangol’s Aerial7 Earlap Army Cap

3. Aegean’s Wool Green Fisherman Cap

4. Ignite’s New Isle Peru Trapper

5. Kangol’s Camo Havelock

6. Bailey of Hollywood’s Tino Fedora

7. Ignite’s Fur Trapper

8. Kangol’s Italian Tweed Bugatti

9. Bailey of Hollywood Harker Derby
