The Huffington Post may have missed the mark on this one! While the Sundance Film Festival is over, this article really struck a nerve with us, along with some of the commenters on the article. Especially when tackling the cold mid-west weather, it’s essential to keep your head and neck warm, since these parts of your body are most sensitive to the changes in temperature. Check out the slideshow and decide for yourself – are these hats a little over the top or just right for the winter season?
One commenter wrote, “I was just there, Thursday to Sunday. It was cold and snowed for three days straight….. people wear hats whens it’s cold…. right? At least most of the people I saw were. In Park City, Utah people dress for the weather and casual clothes are the norm. Skiing, snowboarding, shopping, running from one film to another, etc etc. What do you expect them to wear?”
To counter this, another commenter posted, “I’m from Park City, UT; when Sundance comes to town we all laugh. You can sure [tell] who wants to be noticed! Plus everyone follows the same dress code: ugly hat, all dressed in black, boots they can’t walk in, and fur. The people who come all dressed in black are known as PIB’s (People in Black). For us locals, we don’t care who you are. Show your movie, spend your money, leave, and give us our town back!
We’re pretty sure these hats fit the bill when it comes to protecting yourself from chillier temperatures, but we may be a little bias. Let us know what you think, leave a comment at the bottom of the post, on our Facebook, or give us a shout on Twitter @hatsdotcom!
In the February issue of GQ magazine, hats.com was a featured seller of the Bailey of Hollywood Salem Sewn Braid Hat. Classic styling and skilled craftsmanship make this a hat to be proud of. Features soft sewn braid construction, a pinch front crown, 2-1/8 inch snap brim, and striped grosgrain band. This Bailey of Hollywood spring style is made from paper straw blend ribbon skillfully sewn together for a unique look.
What is an award ceremony in Hollywood without all the glitz and glamor to go along with it? With fashionistas and fashion rebels alike (please tell me you saw Lady Gaga’s latest outfit), this year’s Grammy Awards show was better than ever. Of course we can’t help but take a second look at the hat fashions, with many stars sporting classic fedora styles.
Nicole Richie and Joel Madden pose for the cameras, with Madden giving us the ol’ tip of the hat. Strikingly similar to the Bailey of Hollywood Executive Fedora Hat, the headband on Madden’s hat is a stylish touch on a classic style.
Congrats to Maxwell on his first Grammy award! With such a great talent and with good friends beside him, it’s most definitely a well deserved win. Standing to the right is Mateo, a star in the R&B genra. His slouchy hat, in the same style as the Ignite Ena Oversize Pull On Hat, is a subtle casual touch to a formal event.
While they didn’t take home a Grammy for Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media, the group Paramore was looking sharp for the occasion. if you’re looking for more classic and causal fedora styles like these boys are sporting, check out hats.com Fedoras section, full of great twists on this tradition headwear design.
It goes without saying that Ne-Yo was spotted with a hat on at the 2010 Grammy Awards, and of course he’s looking good sporting a classic hat and suit combo. If you’re already looking for spring and summer styles, try this woven rendition of Ne-Yo’s look, the Bailey of Hollywood Hardy Hat. A stingy-brimmed homburg hat with a classic center crease, the Hardy recalls and reformats a former fashion within a current context. A thin grosgrain band and nail-headed bow reveal Bailey’s present conventions stylistically, over a vintage hat shape that is timeless in its appeal. Made in the USA, the Bailey of Hollywood Hardy is comprised of 100% LiteStraw®.
Congratulations to all the artists who won at the 2010 Grammy Awards this year and good luck next year to all those who didn’t. I can’t wait to see what fashions will grace the 2011 red carpet, and am excited to hear the new albums and singles from all these great musicians!
We just came across this and had to share it with you! For more awesome pics of street art, this site has some great shots – http://streetfiles.org/. For some classic Kangol styles, this site might be able to help
The weather these past few days has completely thrown me for a loop! Monday was so warm, and now… I can’t feel my fingers! Rarely do I take my jacket off in the office any more, and I love the first half of the day only because I sit in a sun beam for most of it.

One of my favorite things to do during the day is to read what our customers have to say about our hats. While checking for updates today, I found this review for the Kangol Match Stripe 504 Hat. David from Medford, OR wrote, “Ever since I watched “In the Heights” on Broadway, I had to find that “Usnavy” hat. Well, I found it at hats.com and it fits great. Hats.com made it very easy to shop.”
Thanks for such a great review David! Of course, we had to find out what “In the Heights” was all about, which lead us to High School Musical star Corbin Bleu sporting this fun twist on the classic 504 style. The Kangol Match Stripe 504 Hat is this year’s hottest striped 504 cap. Every season the folks at Kangol come up with an amazingly popular stripe design for the ever popular 504 cap! It’s the same great cap with new stripes!
“In the Heights” sounds like a great show to see, definitely a story I would be interested in.
In the Heights tells the universal story of a vibrant community in Manhattan’s Washington Heights – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.
For more information on show times and ticket sales, check out the ”In The Heights” website, and for more awesome 504 styles, check out hats.com!
